Mountaineer Gas bills to increase slightly beginning in January

State regulators have approved a plan that will allow Mountaineer Gas to replace and upgrade pipeline over a five-year span, resulting in an increase for West Virginia customers. The gas company approached the Public Service Commission this summer with a plan to invest $418 million to replace infrastructure, expand services and complete system upgrades, according to a news release from the PSC. The proposal includes a $74 million investment in 2025 and $2 million to recover costs for previously-completed work. The move will result in a $2.64 average monthly increase for residents (2.97%) and a $6.92 increase for commercial customers (2.03%), accordinng to Eyewitness News. The PSC noted rates will increase on Jan. 1, 2025.
