Replacement is one option for the Dunbar Toll Bridge

Dozens of residents gathered Tuesday night to discuss the future of the Dunbar Toll Bridge with the West Virginia Division of Highways. The bridge was built in 1953 and has been rated poorly by a Federal Highway Administration report for its failure to meet current height, width and safety standards. Eyewitness News reported some of the options include doing nothing and slowly rehabbing the bridge. Another option would be to rebuild the bridge on the same piers and abutments. The WVDOH assures the public that the bridge is still safe to use while the plan is put together. Public comments on the project are open until Nov. 1 on the WVDOH website.
