School officials to revisit the classification model at an upcoming meeting

Since the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission reclassified several schools last August, many students, faculty and fans have spoken out against the commission’s decision. Sissonville High School principal Gene Smith said to Eyewitness News that the combination of the new classification model and the transfer rule has been devastating to their program. Sissonville was moved from class AAA to class AA. Classifications are now based on 80% enrollment, 10% a socio-economic score and 10% location score. Ryan said a change could be seen as soon as next football season. Principals will meet with the governing body of the WVSSAC this Thursday in Parkersburg.
