Several bills already passed during brief special session

Both the House and Senate passed six appropriations bills during a brief special session on Monday. They designated $10 million for Communities in Schools, gave spending authority for the DOH to use $150 million already appropriated, and set aside $1.2 million for the state’s Veterans’ Home in Barboursville. The passage of another bill will mean $375,000 to the West Virginia State Police. Also, $2 million will go to West Virginia University for its general administration fund to go to the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. And, $380,000 will go to the Department of Education’s Exceptional Children program for pay increases left out of budget bill. The special session continues this Sunday evening at 6 pm.
