State of Emergency continues in Mercer this month

A state of emergency has been declared for a southern West Virginia county still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Helene. Gov. Jim Justice declared the state of emergency for Mercer County, allowing the state’s Emergency Management Division to implement and mobilize personnel, resources and essential emergency services. Power outages have lingered this week and damage from heavy rain is still being assessed. The state of emergency will remain in effect for thirty days.
