Suspect dies after pointing a gun at officers

Kanawha County deputies were trying to serve a warrant for a wanted person at a home in the 1000 block of Snowbird Drive in George’s Creek Tuesday evening, and when they called the man to come out of the home he ran into the nearby woods with a gun. Eyewitness News said, according to body cam video the officers were wearing, the man refused to comply and pulled out the gun. They said the man ignored the officers many attempts to get him to put down the weapon and then he asked for officers to kill him. Deputies said the man first pointed the gun at his own head, but then pointed the gun at officers. That’s when officers were forced to shoot him. Deputies said they tried to perform lifesaving measures, but the man died from his injuries.
