The race for Kanawha County Commissioner is wide open since the resignation of Kent Carper in May amid a federal investigation. The slot was temporarily filled by Marc Slotnick, and the open seat will be filled by one of two new candidates. Natalie Tennant is the former West Virginia Secretary of State. Eyewitness News said one of her main focuses for Kanawha County is infrastructure, and finishing current projects like the Capital Sports Complex at the Town Center Mall. Her opponent is Chris Walters who runs Integrity Insurance in downtown Charleston and was a state delegate for four years. He’s proposing an interstate connector from I-64 to St. Albans, starting from near the Cross Lanes Buffalo Wild Wings, down the wooded mountainside to the Dick Henderson Bridge to open up economic development. The election for the Kanawha County Commission determined come election day on November 5th.
