West Virginia State Police whistleblower files a lawsuit against the agency

A former West Virginia State Police officer who became a whistleblower has filed a lawsuit. Joseph Comer sparked an investigation when he wrote an anonymous letter alleging wrongdoing within the agency, and earlier this month he filed a lawsuit related to the experience. The lawsuit filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court names West Virginia State Police, former Superintendent Jan Cahill, and two troopers with the agency. Comer is accusing the defendants of violating the state’s whistleblower law, negligence, wrongful termination, and civil conspiracy. He wants damages and a jury trial.
