A Cabell County Board of Education member who’d only held the seat for a few months has resigned. Reed Byers, who won election to the board during the May primary, resigned during a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night. Eyewitness News reported it was effective Wednesday. The move comes a little more than five months after Byers was sworn in during July. No reason was provided for Byers’ resignation. Byers’ election was a considerable accomplishment after he was convicted of felony gun and drug charges prior to turning his life around. He worked as a youth recovery coach and paid motivational speaker prior to winning the election seat.
