The polls closed on Saturday for early voting in West Virginia and according to Kanawha County officials, turnout for voters looking to cast their ballot ahead of Election Day was record-breaking. County Clerk Vera McCormick told Eyewitness News that the lines have been steady and sometimes long throughout the early voting period. There are 123,000 registered voters in Kanawha County and having the polls open for more than one day disperses the foot traffic that would otherwise be coming in solely on Election Day. The polls will be reopen for Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
