November’s interim legislative committee meetings began on Sunday and school safety measures were on the table for discussion. Lawmakers had the chance to voice their concerns and get a better idea of what to look towards regarding school safety the next legislative session. “The general public doesn’t think about school safety until it happens somewhere in your community or even somewhere across the country,” said Del. Patrick Lucas. Sen. Mike Oliverio said. “I was in the legislature when columbine happened and we as the legislature acted to begin school safety measures statewide. I don’t think we’ve come far enough,” Lawmakers said in the upcoming legislative session, they will be looking towards more ways to ensure the safety of schools for children.
