A guilty plea is entered by the man accused of firing shots at utility workers

A man accused of firing shots at utility workers and refusing to come out of his home for law enforcement was in court Monday. Eyewitness News said 32-year old Aaron Grindstaff pleaded guilty to wanton endangerment in an incident that happened along Wills Creek Road in Clendenin in February. Grindstaff is accused of firing several shots at workers installing fiber lines in his neighborhood, according to a criminal complaint. When deputies arrived, they said Grindstaff refused to exit his home for more than three hours. One deputy was injured in the incident and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. About 19 guns and a “significant” amount of ammunition were found in Grindstaff’s home. He’ll face one to five years in prison when he is scheduled on Jan. 30, 2025.
