New state program will help wildlife habitats

A new program in West Virginia will help restore a game bird species and other wildlife to the area. Governor Jim Justice said the West Virginia Ruffed Grouse and Wildlife Restoration Program will provide vital food sources to several species of wildlife like the ruffed grouse and white-tailed deer and songbirds, while it will also boost local economies and land owners. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and the West Virginia Division of Forestry will lead an effort that will plant soft mast-producing trees and shrubs on recently harvested private timberlands to help those habitats and ecosystems.
