DOH worker is hit by a car while fixing a pothole

A West Virginia Division of Highways worker remains hospitalized after being stuck by a vehicle in Mason County. The worker was making emergency repairs to a pothole on Route 62 Saturday evening when he was hit by a truck, according to a news release from the Department of Transportation. The worker was taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital before being transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment of a broken arm, broken femur and separated shoulder. The DOT noted the employee was wearing reflective clothing at the time of the crash and lights from a nearby work vehicle were flashing. The injured worker remains in intensive care following surgery on his femur. An additional procedure will be required to repair the injured arm and shoulder.
