Fewer guns found last year at airports in West Virginia

The Transportation Security Administration said the number of firearms intercepted at airport checkpoints in West Virginia went down in 2024 compared to the previous year. The decline followed a national trend. Last year, the TSA found 10 handguns at West Virginia airports, five less than 2023. Six firearms were found at West Virginia International Yeager Airport in Charleston, three at Huntington’s Tri-State Airport and one at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional in Parkersburg. Guns are not allowed to be carried onto airplanes, even if travelers have a concealed carry permit. Unloaded firearms are allowed if they’re packed in checked baggage.
