The West Virginia Intermediate Court of Appeals has selected a leader for 2025.
Judge Charles Lorensen will service as chief judge for the year, according to a news release from the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. The three-judge appellate court makes final orders or judgements in civil, family court, administrative, guardianship, conservatorship and workers’ compensation cases.
Eyewitness News said Lorensen will serve a one-year term as chief judge flanked by Judge Daniel Greear and Judge Ryan White. Greear has been selected to serve as chief judge in 2026 and White will assume the leadership role the following year. Lorensen is currently serving a term expiring at the end of 2028 after serving as Chief of Staff for Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Revenue and State Tax Commissioner.
