Nitro first responders undergo ice rescue training

Firefighters in Nitro trained this week for ice rescues. If someone were to fall through the ice on a frozen lake, first responders not only have to work to rescue the person in trouble, but they also have to get themselves back to safety. Ice rescue suits help keep them warm and dry and they learned tactics for staying afloat until help arrives. The best thing is prevention, so they’re asking you to avoid walking on iced-over ponds and lakes this winter.
