Gov. Patrick Morrisey appointed a new cabinet secretary for the Department of Human Services this week. A news release said Alex J. Myer will head the department, which handles social and medical services, drug control and support, family support and protection, child support and residential placement along with behavioral health. Myer previously worked in South Dakota as chief of Children and Family Services. He’s a U.S. Army veteran with 12 years of experience in public office.
