Mason County Development Authority Board reforms

The Mason County Development Authority Board held it’s first meeting on Friday after it was disbanded and reformed following an investigation that was launched by the West Virginia State Police. Eyewitness News reported the new board is made up of both new and old members, consisting of 18 people total. The investigation centers around the possible violation of West Virginia Code that prohibits county officials and certain county school employees from having the power to approve an agency’s budget or to appoint its members. The violation is a misdemeanor. The new board will serve staggered terms of one, two or three years, and that enables new faces to be appointed to the board.
