Plans call for a flood wall to be built in Milton

Plans have been in the works for several years to put up a flood wall in Milton, and it’s getting a little closer to reality. The plan with the Army Corps of Engineers will put up a flood wall for almost a mile and a half starting at the Flea Market and ending at Gable Drive. Right now, Milton is in a 27-year floodplain and the flood wall will change that to a 250-floodplain, meaning there’s a chance for a flood once every two hundred fifty years. The wall will tak about a year and a half to build. Niney percent of the funding will come from federal funds and the rest from the state.
