Senate Joint Resolution 8

During this legislative session, lawmakers are looking towards making the language more clear in regards to voting eligibility in the state. Senate Joint Resolution 8 is an amendment which would ensure only West Virginia citizens are qualified to vote in all elections.”The purpose of this bill is to amend the West Virginia constitution to clarify that only citizens of this of West Virginia who are also citizens of the United States of America shall be entitled to vote at all elections held within the counties in which they respectively reside,” attorney Christopher Etheredge said.”It’s just a language cleanup. It doesn’t harm or hurt anyone, and now all it does is give the county clerks and the secretary of state’s office more teeth if something was to happen,” Del.
