WVA Legislature back in session

The West Virginia Legislature is officially back in session and will be for 60 days. The House and Senate gaveled in on Monday with some new members, new leadership all leading up to the State of the State address from the new governor. The House also began this session with a new committee system that will now feature standing committees, like finance and education, and subcommittees underneath each of the standing ones. The rule changes that come with this are what House members spent the afternoon debating. The rules now include that the committees will be where the public hearings take place instead of the House floor like years prior. House Minority Leader Del. Sean Hornbuckle, D-Cabell, said they have concerns this will not give people enough of a heads up to be at the committee meetings..
