Dozens of people gathered in St. Albans Thursday for the unveiling of the new microchip scanning station at the St. Albans Police Department. The new pet microchip scanning station that will help reunite lost pets with their owners is named after former St. Albans PD Sergeant James Butler, who died in January and his K-9 partner Deuce. Retired captain of St. Albans Police Department, Timmy Kemper, said that this new station not only helps pet owners, but keeps Sergeant Butler in the minds of the community. The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Society and Kanawha Obedience Training Club are part of the many driving factors behind the new microchip scanning station.
