Grand Jury handed down 36 indictments

A Kanawha County grand jury handed down more than three dozen indictments Friday, including cases involving armed robbery, gun violence and deadly DUI crashes. Michael Allen Stone, 39, of Charleston has been indicted on charges of first-degree robbery, use or presentment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, petit larceny and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Stone is accused of robbing a Speedway gas station at gunpoint in late 2024, court records said.
Alva Paul Jones, 45, of Charleston has been indicted on charges of DUI causing death, DUI causing bodily injury, destruction of property and violating the Uniform Controlled Substance Act. Records said Jones is accused of driving under the influence of methamphetamine and crashing along Corridor G in November 2024. Court documents said the wreck involved four vehicles and killed Donald Cantrell.
