Deputies investigate cases of counterfeit money around Kanawha County

Deputies are seeking a suspect and warning local businesses to look out for counterfeit money. They’re looking for help identifying the male suspect, last seen with another male traveling in a black sedan, who is believed to be responsible for distributing counterfeit $100 bills, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
The two individuals are said to have used the counterfeit money at several businesses along Route 817, as well as a store on MacCorkle Avenue in the St. Albans area. They were last seen heading west towards Putnam County on U.S. Route 60. If you have tips, contact the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office at 304-357-0556.
