Amanda Spurlock of Elkview has been charged with two counts child neglect causing risk of injury, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. Deputies were dispatched to an Elk River Road home Monday evening and found two children in dirty diapers prompting a search of the home which revealed an empty pill bottle and material consistent with drug use, within reach of the children. Deputies found Spurlock passed out in a bedroom, and when she woke up, she appeared to be intoxicated, according to deputies. Spurlock said she had been regularly using fentanyl for two weeks and had smoked the drug inside the home while the children were present. She’s being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bail.
