Opioid settlement funds are starting to disperse around West Virginia

The West Virginia First Foundation, the non-profit that was created from West Virginia opioid case settlements, hosted its Initial Opportunity Grant Celebration on Tuesday in Sutton. The first recipients of the grant funding were recognized at the event. Featured speakers were Dr. Karen Scott of the Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts, Attorney General J.B. McCuskey and Governor Morrisey. According to a press release from Governor Patrick Morrisey’s office, the foundation has awarded $17 million to 94 organizations that are fighting substance abuse around West Virginia.
