The Kanawha County Commission approved $100,000 in funding for Camp Virgil Tate.
A camp representative told Eyewitness News that’s 20% of their overall annual budget and they’ll use it to make repairs. This comes after the commission decided to not restore funding following liability issues being brought to light of children being housed at the camp leading to multiple calls to the police. The funding was restored following a corrective action plan where Camp Virgil Tate and the commission built a stronger relationship to improve communication.
