Charleston firefighters said five people and several animals were inside a home in the 800 block of Hanna Drive when it caught fire early Friday morning. Firefighters said the family got out safely, but one dog and one cat died in the fire. The blaze is believed to have started in the back bedroom, but the cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated. Firefighters said the home is a total loss.
