Open houses planned to share info on AEP’s plans to avoid Meeks Mountain Trails with transmission lines

Appalachian Power announced modifications for a 20-mile stretch of transmission lines to avoid crossing the Meeks Mountain Trails in Putnam County. Aside from rebuilding lines, the project will upgrade substations in Putnam and Cabell Counties, according to a news release. The original plan was opposed by some who worried about losing access to the network of manmade trails behind Hurricane City Park. AEP has scheduled two open houses to address a rebuild in Bancroft and Milton. They’ll take place at the Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 25, according to a news release from AEP.
