Recovery effort begins after fatal floods in Ohio and Marion Counties

Gov. Patrick Morrisey said during a press briefing on Monday that the West Virginia death toll from weekend flooding is up to six people, all in Ohio County. No injuries were reported in Marion County, but several roads were under water Monday and an apartment complex partially collapsed due to high water. Morrisey estimated that 61 homes have been affected by the flash flood, either damaged or destroyed. Morrisey urged people to stay off the roads so that cleanup is easier for crews in the Fairmont area. The National Guard has been fully mobilized in both Marion and Ohio counties.
