A Sissonville man awaits sentencing for 2024 police pursuit

A man accused of firing gunshots from his vehicle and leading law enforcement on a pursuit in 2024 appeared in court Monday. Eyewitness News said Jesse Dale Cobb, of Sissonville pleaded guilty to wanton endangerment for firing a gun from his pickup while traveling through Charleston and South Charleston. The high-speed chase ended with spike strips being deployed along Route 119 near Alum Creek Road where Cobb was uncooperative and asked offiers to shoot him. Monday Cobb said he was feeling suicidal due to a cancer diagnosis and was hopeful someone would kill him. He entered an information plea, waiving his right to a grand jury indictment. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 15.
