New grocery store is coming to Clendenin

A new grocery store is set to open in Clendenin. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for a new Save A Lot on Aug. 27, according to mayor Kay Summers, and a soft opening is planned for the week of Aug. 4. The mayor told Eyewitness News that the grocery store will be moving into old Smith’s Food Fair that closed following the 2016 flood. The area’s current Save A Lot, further down Route 4 outside of city limits, will close when the new one opens. Summers said the new store will be bigger and will include a deli.
