Two West Virginia counties wait on a disaster declaration

If a major disaster declaration is awarded to Ohio and Marion counties after flooding in June, FEMA’s individual assistance program can provide homeowners and renters with financial aid. An emergency declaration would open up the possibility of help for local governments and state agencies. Nine people in Ohio County died in the flooding June 20, and in both counties, families lost homes, and roads and bridges were destroyed. The West Virginia Democratic Party is calling for the president to approve Governor Morrisey’s request right away. A disaster was declared two days after the recent tragic floods in Texas.
