Education center named after Woody Williams is under construction in Huntington

A West Virginia-based firm has shared updates on an state-of-the-art educational center in the works for Cabell County. ZMM Architects and Engineers have been tasked with transforming an abandoned Sears store into the Woody Williams Center for Advanced Learning and Careers. WCHS TV said the project will bring programs including auto mechanics, welding, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, culinary arts and cosmetology to the Huntington Mall. ZMM noted the $40 million effort funded through a bond passed in 2020 will include a full kitchen and dining area along with a multi-purpose room that can host events. No completion date has been announced.
