Groundbreaking held for new elementary school in Huntington

Officials held the ribbon cutting this week for the new Meadows Elementary in Huntington. The new school replaces the old building on Washington Boulevard which was built in the 1930s. Eyewitness News said the school’s design pays tribute to Huntington’s railroad history, with floors that look like tracks and walls shaped like train tunnels. The cost of the building was $22 million. Students will head back to class on Wednesday, under principal Amy Maynard.
