Huntington outlines plans to address housing shortage

Huntington is facing a major housing shortage. They’re more than 2,800 units short, according to the city’s 2024 Housing Needs Assessment. In response, Mayor Patrick Farrell is pushing his “Live Huntington” initiative, offering tax breaks to contractors who build new homes or renovate existing ones. The goal is to attract more residents and support the city’s growth. The plan includes all types of housing — from student to single-family. The proposal heads to city council for a vote on September 22.
