A woman was being held at the South Central Regional Jail on an outstanding warrant from another state, and she’s been moved out of the jail. A judge agreed to allow her to stay on home confinement until authorities come to pick her up for extradition. This comes after she told state police that a Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputy sexually assaulted her inside the courthouse before a hearing. 54-year old Cass Close of Quick is facing a charge related to the case. Close was assigned as a bailiff in circuit court at the Kanawha County Judicial Annex but was fired last week. The alleged assult came while the female inmate was in a holding cell for her court hearing. Records said the inmate was removed from the cell and taken into Close’s adjoining office several times where the assaults allegedly occurred. Close is being held on a $100,000 bond and will be back in court on Aug. 11 for a preliminary hearing.
