A Kanawha County home suffered heavy fire damage Sunday morning. A fire at a Nitro home along 40th Street caused “extensive damage,” eliciting a response from Kanawha and Putnam County firefighters, according to city spokesperson Joe Stevens. WCHS TV said the blaze prompted the response of fire agencies from Kanawha and Putnam counties, and flames worked into the drywall, complicating suppression efforts. Stevens said everyone escaped safely and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
