An early Monday morning crash on Interstate 79 resulted in one fatality. Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the single-vehicle crash near the 7-mile marker on I-79 and found a Dodge pickup truck overturned in the median. The driver, who was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sergeant JL Lester said the initial investigation showed that the pickup truck was traveling northbound when it left the roadway, entered the median, struck a drainage structure, and overturned. The driver, an adult male from out of state, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
