After nearly a year-long delay, a major road project in Kanawha County is finally getting back on track. Road-widening work continues on Goff Mountain Road and Big Tyler Road after being stalled for about ten months. Delays came because a utility company hadn’t yet moved some of their poles.
Del. Andy Shamblin of Kanawha County sent a letter to Governor Patrick Morrisey to help get the project moving again. The project originally kicked off in 2023 as part of former Governor Jim Justice’s “Roads to Prosperity” plan. Crews are currently in phase 10 of 14, working to widen the road to five lanes .
Construction will run overnight, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and the new target for completion is sometime in 2026.
