Belle hopes to expand police force while chief is under investigation

The Belle police chief Robert Glenn remains under investigation, six months after he was placed on administrative leave. Mayor David Fletcher told Eyewitness News anchor Anthony Conn that they’re waiting for things to unfold through the court system and they’ll go from there. All shifts are covered for the police force in Belle while things play out. Fletcher said daytime police coverage has been primarily handled by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia State Police. They hope to hire new police officers this fall, with the next test coming up on October 4th. The next regularly scheduled Belle Town Council meeting is tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m.
