Calhoun County’s commission president is facing misdemeanor tax charges connected to a business partnership in a local monument company. Craig A. Arthur of Creston was charged with seven counts of failing to pay taxes or file returns or reports by a criminal investigator for the West Virginia Tax Division on Aug. 21. Eyewitness News said Arthur was issued a summons on the charges and is set to appear before Jackson County Magistrate Laura Pursley on Monday at 2 p.m. Pursley was appointed to serve as a special magistrate in the case after Calhoun County Magistrates Lora Davis and Richard Postalwait requested to be recused. Arthur was the co-owner of A&A Monument Services with Nathan Allison, who is also facing the same tax-related charges.
