Charleston man is found not competent to stand trial

A man accused in a deadly stabbing incident in Charleston was found not competent to stand trial this week. Mark Kreaps was arrested in October 2024 after an altercation at the Belvedere Apartments led to the death of 43-year-old Les Paul Bumgarner. Another woman was beaten and another man was stabbed, according to court records. Kreaps was charged with murder, two counts of malicious wounding and one count of burglary. WCHS TV said Kreaps will undergo treatment at William Sharpe Hospital and be back in court early next year for a status hearing.
