Closing arguments set for Monday for Barack Williams trial

Testimony ended Friday morning in the murder trial of 15-year-old Barack Williams in the 2024 murder of Caden Martin. Prosecutors claimed Williams acted as a lookout while Bre’Juan Williams-Hampton robbed the Tobacco and Pipes smoke shop before gunning down the 19-year-old employee. Williams-Hampton, already convicted and sentenced in the shooting, testified Williams was a lookout, had recently shot a woman on Woodward Drive and tried to shoot a man during a Patrick Plaza carjacking attempt days before the deadly holdup. Jurors saw security video of that incident Friday morning. Williams elected not to testify and the defense rested without presenting any witnesses. Closing arguments are set for Monday morning.
