Marmet increasing starting paying for LEO’s

RibFest brings thousands of people to the town of Marmet, causing the Marmet Police Department to call on the Kanawha County Sheriffs Office for extra help due to low staff. “We don’t have the manpower right now to be able to handle something as big as a RibFest,”said Marmet Police Chief Larry Angell. “This is a big production. And so we’re very fortunate. Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department works with us and helps us in every way. Angell said he hopes to see the staffing numbers at the department rise with the new pay raise for officers, also including 100% medical coverage. We went from $20 an hour for starting salary to $25. So our starting salary is $52,000 per year.”
