New hunting seasons open this weekend

Black bear firearms season is open now in West Virginia while archery and crossbow hunters are gearing up for opening weekend. West Virginia’s black bear firearms season is open for some counties through Sept. 26, according to a news release from the Division of Natural Resources. And more segments are planned through the fall, including between October 4th and 10th, and October 23rd and 26th. The DNR noted special youth, Class CS and Class Q season will be held Oct. 18 and 19. Archery and crossbow seasons for deer, bear and boar open Saturday, Sept. 27.
