A new place for kids to play and families to enjoy the outdoors is now open in Charleston. On Thursday evening, community leaders held a ribbon cutting at Coonskin Park to celebrate the additions of Hoppy’s Playground and the Mountaineer Mile.
This marks the latest upgrades to the park thanks to a collaboration between the Kanawha County Commission, Parks and Recreation, and Kanawha Valley Tourism.
The new playground gives children a fun and safe space to play, while the Mountaineer Mile adds a scenic, accessible trail for walkers and hikers of all ages. These projects are part of a broader effort to enhance local parks and create more family-friendly spaces throughout Kanawha County.
