Work on ramps at Chuck Yeager Mem Bridge starts Tuesday

Portions of the Exit 95 ramps at Kanawha City on Interstate 64 and the West Virginia Turnpike will be closed for construction starting Tuesday, according to officials. The construction is to lower the ramps, in an effort to create more clearance underneath the Chuck Yeager Memorial Bridge, according to a press release from the West Virginia Department of Transportation. The project comes after the Kokosing Construction Company was awarded a nearly $3 million contract to replace the ramps in question back in July, per the WVDOT. During construction, traffic will still be able to use the Exit 95 interchange, but the ramp to access WV 61 will be closed. Traffic will also be able to get onto the Turnpike from WV 61 south, but the northbound ramp will be closed.
