West Virginia State Senator Mike Stuart is stepping down after being confirmed as general counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The Republican lawmaker represented District 7, which includes Boone, Kanawha, Lincoln, and Logan counties.
Stuart previously served as a U.S. Attorney under the Trump administration.
The state GOP is now accepting applications for his replacement through October 15.
